IDOLATRY IS A GREAT SIN

According to the Bible, no one should be worshipped except Jehovah God. Whoever worships anyone else worships an idol, something that is not God, since God is unique and therefore deserves this.

Idolatry, idolatry (Greek-Latin idololatria): the veneration of a creature as a god, a sin against the first commandment and the virtue of →religion. In the strict sense, the deification of inanimate objects (e.g. celestial bodies, totems), animals, people (e.g. ancestors, leaders, etc.) or ancestors.

It is permissible to worship Jesus, but is it possible to worship Jesus as God?

Some important biblical facts about Jesus

The Gospels faithfully present the earthly part of Jesus' life story. His earthly ministry was wonderful, but the majority of his generation did not accept him, and although his career ended in death, God resurrected him on the third day, restoring him to the glorious spirit life he had before his earthly birth (Acts 2:22-36; John 17:1-5). Today, by God’s grace, our Savior, Jesus Christ, is a glorious spirit being in God’s heavenly kingdom. He is the most important person in the universe after Jehovah God, for his heavenly Father has made him Lord over all and has given him all authority in heaven and on earth to restore divine order and harmony to the universe. (Matthew 28:18) As heavenly High Priest (Hebrews 8:1), he is the only Mediator between God and humans. (1 Timothy 2:5) Therefore, it is vital that we honor Jesus Christ as our heavenly Father, God, expects us to do, by listening to and obeying his teachings. (John 3:31-36)

However, we must be very careful not to make him into a god, for there is no other God but Jehovah our Father. Our Lord Jesus did not teach that he was Jehovah God Almighty, nor that he was equal to God, for he said: “You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I am.” (John 14:28) Nor did he teach that he was a second God, for he said: “This means eternal life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.” (John 17:3) The phrase "the only true God" expresses supreme authority, supreme dignity, and this is exercised only by the Father forever. Jesus is not God, because then there would be two, and the Bible speaks of only one.

And he did not teach us to worship and pray to him, for he said: Then Jesus said to him, "Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." (Matthew 4:10) - ''But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

This is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.'' (Matthew 6:6,9)
