God calls us to shine

TO SHINE it is an intellectual brilliance, of a spiritual nature:

„The wise will shine like the brightness of the sky, and those who will teach many to walk in righteousness will shine like the stars, forever and ever.” (Daniel 12:3)

The method by which we can reach this state of intellectual brilliance is clearly shown in the Book of Proverbs, chapter 4.

Wisdom plays a prominent role in this epic of faith, precisely because persevering in the Word of God, that is, meditating on what is written, ennobles man with wisdom.

1 Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction;

    pay attention and gain understanding.

2 I give you sound learning,

    so do not forsake my teaching.

3 For I too was a son to my father,

    still tender, and cherished by my mother.

4 Then he taught me, and he said to me,

    “Take hold of my words with all your heart;

    keep my commands, and you will live.

5 Get wisdom, get understanding;

    do not forget my words or turn away from them.

6 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you;

    love her, and she will watch over you.

7 The beginning of wisdom is this: Get[a] wisdom.

    Though it cost all you have,[b] get understanding.

8 Cherish her, and she will exalt you;

    embrace her, and she will honor you.

9 She will give you a garland to grace your head

    and present you with a glorious crown.”

The process of growing in wisdom is compared to the increasing brightness of the sun during the day. This shows that man can acquire it gradually, throughout his life, if he remains consistent in the study of the Holy Scriptures. We will always have something to learn, so always seek to study the Word of God, as long as we live.

Proverbs 4

18 The path of the righteous is like the morning sun,

    shining ever brighter till the full light of day.

19 But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness;

    they do not know what makes them stumble.

20 My son, pay attention to what I say;

    turn your ear to my words.

21 Do not let them out of your sight,

    keep them within your heart;

22 for they are life to those who find them

    and health to one’s whole body.

23 Above all else, guard your heart,

    for everything you do flows from it.

24 Keep your mouth free of perversity;

    keep corrupt talk far from your lips.

25 Let your eyes look straight ahead;

    fix your gaze directly before you.

26 Give careful thought to the[c] paths for your feet

    and be steadfast in all your ways.

27 Do not turn to the right or the left;

    keep your foot from evil.

The study process of the word of God will make us wiser and show us the areas in which we need change, where we are the "poorest" in our spirituality, as the Son of God told us.

Matthew 5:3

ICB

“Those people who know they have great spiritual needs are happy. The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.

EXB

“·They are blessed [or Blessed are those…; C and so through v. 10] who ·realize their spiritual poverty [L are the poor in spirit], for the kingdom of heaven ·belongs to them [is theirs].

AMP

“Blessed [spiritually prosperous, happy, to be admired] are the poor in spirit [those devoid of spiritual arrogance, those who regard themselves as insignificant], for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever].

AMPC

Blessed (happy, to be envied, and spiritually prosperous—with life-joy and satisfaction in God’s favor and salvation, regardless of their outward conditions) are the poor in spirit (the humble, who rate themselves insignificant), for theirs is the kingdom of heaven!

PHILLIPS

Then he began his teaching by saying to them, “How happy are the humble-minded, for the kingdom of Heaven is theirs! “How happy are those who know what sorrow means for they will be given courage and comfort! “Happy are those who claim nothing, for the whole earth will belong to them! “Happy are those who are hungry and thirsty for goodness, for they will be fully satisfied! “Happy are the merciful, for they will have mercy shown to them! “Happy are the utterly sincere, for they will see God! “Happy are those who make peace, for they will be sons of God! “Happy are those who have suffered persecution for the cause of goodness, for the kingdom of Heaven is theirs! “And what happiness will be yours when people blame you and ill-treat you and say all kinds of slanderous things against you for my sake! Be glad then, yes, be tremendously glad—for your reward in Heaven is magnificent. They persecuted the prophets before your time in exactly the same way.

Through God’s "wisdom" we could make a necessary "review" of our personal mind, heart and life "stile", to understand if this "stile" is in harmony with the beautiful and righteous will of Almighty God. First of all, true faith comes after a deep and sincere self review, through God's holy word, through his holy spirit, through true repentance, before our heavenly God and Father, in the holy name and mediation of his only-begotten Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, our only High Periest and only Mediator.

"And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, and ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2 ASV

"But the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and faith unfeigned:" 1Timothy 1:5 ASV

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, self-control; against such there is no law." Galatians 5:22,23 ASV

The word of God will teach us what to believe instead of what we believe, and correct our understanding to be in the harmony of the Gospel.

"Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them: but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps."  Matthew 25:1-4

"And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come forth, my people, out of her, that ye have no fellowship with her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues: for her sins have reached even unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities."  Revelation 18:4,5 ASV
