Time stands still for the dead (When will we go to paradise?)

When will we be immortal?

The most important is: our salvation is given by God, through faith, through grace, through His Son, Jesus Christ. The grace he offers is accompanied by a great gift, eternal life, which begins at the resurrection. Let us strive for a clear vision, let us take into account every biblical detail.

The Bible's answer is clear: only at the resurrection, when we will have eternal life.

"Do not marvel at this: for the hour is coming in which all those in the graves will hear his voice,

And they will go out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation". (John 5:28,29)

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

If eternal life (immortality) is only in the resurrection, what about this word: “Then he said, Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom!

Jesus answered him: "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:42-43)?

Well, did the Lord Jesus come in His kingdom that day? Not.
John 20:17 “Touch me not! - Jesus said to him - because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them: I ascend to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God."

So, the Lord Jesus had to go to heaven, return to the Father and with the power he received from Him, come back. He ascended, went to heaven, but did he come back? Not! His return will also bring resurrection, when all the dead will hear his voice, as we read above.

Did the repentant robber receive eternal life that day, which also meant that he became immortal that very day?

- Not! He received eternal life as a gift of grace, as a promise. But could he begin his eternal life immediately? - Not. He died, but his "software" was saved (DNA, all his physical and mental information, memory, actions, thoughts, inclinations, spoken and written words) from which God can resurrect him after any number of millennia (millions of years), according to its self-identity.

In 1529, there is a Reformation era hymn which correctly states:

"I leave my soul in the great hands of God,
Until Your kingdom, sleeping."

The secret of Luke 23:42-43 is revealed by a Syriac translation called "Codex Curetonian Gospel" (4th-5th century) and a Greek manuscript called "Codex Vaticanus" (4th century):

Then he said: Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom!
Jesus answered him: "Today I tell you the truth, you will be with me in paradise"
"Truly I tell you today, that you will be with Me in paradise".

Completely understandable. The place called Paradise, which Adam and Eve lost, will only be found in the future, at the resurrection. Until then, no dead lives. For those who die, time stands still until the resurrection.

However, on the Day of Judgment, the dead will be brought back to life and it will be discovered that nothing else has happened to them since their death except that they slept without conscience.
